TERBUTALINE 2.5 MG TABLETS

1. COMPOSITION

Each tablet contains:

Terbutaline Sulphate equivalent to Terbutaline 2.5 mg
Excipients: q.s.
Colour: As approved.

3. THERAPEUTIC CLASS

Selective β2-Adrenergic Agonist / Bronchodilator

4. INDICATIONS

Terbutaline is indicated for the relief and prevention of bronchospasm associated with:

  • Bronchial asthma

  • Chronic bronchitis

  • Emphysema

  • Other reversible obstructive airway diseases

It helps relax bronchial smooth muscle and improve airflow.

5. CONTRAINDICATIONS

  • Hypersensitivity to terbutaline or any component of the formulation.

  • Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, or seizure disorders.

  • Caution is advised in patients with hypokalaemia or those receiving medicines that may lower serum potassium.

6. DRUG INTERACTIONS

Terbutaline may interact with:

  • Other sympathomimetic medicines

  • Non-selective beta-blockers

  • Diuretics

  • Corticosteroids

  • Xanthine derivatives

  • Other medicines affecting cardiac rhythm or serum potassium

Patients should inform their physician about all prescription, non-prescription, and herbal medicines being taken.

7. ADMINISTRATION

For oral use only.

The usual adult dose is 2.5 mg three times daily, or as directed by the physician. The dose may be adjusted according to clinical response and tolerability.

Swallow the tablet with water. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.

If symptoms do not improve or become worse, seek medical advice.

8. STORAGE

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture and excessive heat.

Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children.

Do not use after the expiry date stated on the package.
